Steering sets Mechanical

The Riviera mechanical steering sets KMDA100 and KMDA100M both use a planetary gear design. A planetary gear design has three satellite gears that rotate on their axis and simultaneously rotate around the central rudder axis.

This ensures equal distribution of the engine torque over three points of the central gear, thus sharing and balancing the system loads. The advantages of this special design are longer system life, higher efficiency and less feedback from the engine compared to single pinion gearboxes.
